Glass Vessel Sinks

In ancient times, before the dawn of bathrooms as we know them today, large bowls or basins were used for many cleaning rituals. There was typically always a wash basin by the side of the bed or on the dresser along with a large pitcher of water. When one wanted to wash their face or hands, they would pour water into the bowl and use it for cleansing themselves. As time passed, these pseudo sinks became permanent fixtures in early bathrooms, and continue to be as such today. Sunken into the counter top, the mobility of the sink was eliminated. In a combination of designs influenced by past practice, sinks were once again raised above the counters on which they sat. With a growing desire for modern design that broke free from the norm, sinks began to be crafted from more non-traditional bathroom fixture materials, with products such as glass sinks commonly being seen in production. These merging of these two schools of thought in design elements led to the invention of glass vessel sinks.
